Walk the World 2011: Highlights

In tiny Denmark, where Soroptimist International joined the WtW partners TNT, Unilever and DSM, walks had been organized in 23 different cities across the country. In Copenhagen, the walk was co-sponsored by Copenhagen Zoo so everyone wearing a Walk the World t-shirt was given free access to the world-famous zoo with 2000 animals from all parts of the world. In Copenhagen, the Frederiksberg City Hall Square was turned into a Burkina Faso school kitchen with popular TV chef Nikolaj Kirk and colleague Mikkel Maarbjerg cooking their special version of a WFP school meal. For the hundreds of walkers, the warm soup was an extremely welcome kick start on a cloudy and windy day for the 5 kilometer long walk ending at Copenhagen Zoo.
